Thought you might enjoy this...
Right now I am at Iowa State University taking a two week class in Bioinformatics and Biological Statistics. After this I will graduate to "Undergraduate Research Fellow" and work on a research project with a professor for the rest of the summer.
Anyways, right now we are doing Genome Informatics and Annotating GmGDB gene protein sequences. (Like the human genome, accept the soy bean genome.) The mRNA strands are there and now we need to use cDNA, EST, etc. evidence to put the pieces together and basically label them.
Here is one of the ones I've done: http://www.plantgdb.org/GmGDB/cgi-bin/getGSEG_Region.pl?dbid=&gseg_gi=27764534&bac_lpos=108354&bac_rpos=118473
Thought you might enjoy it? Or not haha. But I think it's pretty cool that not only was I the first person to ever do this, but this annotation will and can be used/accessed by scientists around the world! :-)
